Ivan Skyba was one of ten Ukrainians who were captured by the Russian occupiers in Buch in the Kyiv region in March and taken to be shot. A man who miraculously survived said that the troops of the aggressor country mocked the prisoners and promised to burn them alive.

According to him, on March 4 they were captured and taken to one of the buildings – the men held one hand on the head and the other on the belt of the person in front of them.
“People were lined up against the wall near the Russian base and made to kneel. The Russians put shirts and sweaters over their heads so they couldn’t see. They were beaten and insulted. According to Ivan, they shouted: “You are Bandera people. You wanted to burn us with Molotov cocktails! Now we will burn you alive!” Skiba said.
According to him, the beatings intensified after one of the detainees said that they were all part of the terror defense unit.
Captured Ukrainians were beaten in front of civilians who were also nearby. Later, on March 4, two of the eight men were shot dead. One of the Ukrainians who tried to escape was also killed, followed by others.
Skiba himself miraculously survived, although he was wounded, and later managed to get out of captivity. Another prisoner who agreed to cooperate with the enemy also managed to survive.
