The police of the Kherson region has opened a criminal investigation into the shelling of residential buildings in the village of Novovorontsovka by the Russian army, the communications department reports.

Due to the shelling of private houses by the Russian army in the village of Novovorontsovka, Beryslav district, they are unfit for life. This deoccupied settlement is on the line of contact, so it is constantly suffering from heavy artillery shelling.

As a result of another enemy shelling, private houses on three streets in Novovorontsovka were severely damaged. Today they are completely destroyed and unfit for life. There are no casualties among the civilian population, people have left their homes earlier. Police officers serving in the Occupied Territories went to the scene, gathered the necessary information, documented the consequences of enemy shelling of civilian objects, seized evidence of war crimes in the Russian Federation and are now establishing the extent of the destruction.

Open criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Violation of the laws and customs of war” (punishable by imprisonment for a term of 8 to 12 years).

Law enforcement officers continue to work in an enhanced version of service in the occupied territories of Kherson region, maintaining the security of civilians and performing other law enforcement functions.
