A special envoy of the European Union for Human Rights, Eimon Gilmore , paid a working visit to Kyiv region . He visited Bucha and Irpen , which were almost completely destroyed by the Russian occupiers. After seeing it, the official said that our country is part of the European family.
This was announced on Sunday, June 19, on the official website of the press service of the State National Park in Kyiv region. Gilmore was accompanied by Kyiv Police Chief Andriy Nebytov .
The delegation visited the destroyed Irpin Police Department, the Romaniv Bridge, the civilian infrastructure of the city damaged during the enemy shelling, as well as the mass grave in Bucha .
Nebitov noted that it is very important for Ukrainians that the leadership of the EU and other civilized countries see with their own eyes what “Russian peace” is .
“We strive to convey to the European community the scale of war crimes of the Russian Federation in the Kiev region, so that the brutal aggression of the Russian army in our country was punished,” – said the militiaman.
During the working meeting, the issues of investigating the war crimes of the occupiers near Kyiv, violations of international humanitarian law, as well as assistance to victims of Russian aggression were discussed.
Gilmore’s visit will last several days. “I am honored to meet with representatives of the National Police of Ukraine. The whole world was shocked by the Russian aggression in Ukraine, the brutality of these crimes. And the European Union supports Ukraine ,” said the EU Special Representative for Human Rights.
He promised to make every effort to bring those responsible to justice.
” Ukraine is part of the European family. Ukraine belongs to the European Union ,” Gilmore said.
