A town with temporary housing has been opened in Irpen for those whose houses or apartments were destroyed during the fighting.
Residents of Irpen receive the keys to temporary housing: place of residence – a place in a compartment, according to TSN .
Life just in the train car does not frighten Eugene and Milo, because they have nowhere else to go. “Our house burned down … That’s why it is now uninhabitable, there is no roof at all, there is no floor above us,” says the couple.
The fire destroyed everything, only documents and savings were taken with them. “It’s always hard when you lose your home, but if you have such temporary housing, it’s good. And it will be visible there later, ”the couple says.
While their house is being rebuilt, they and hundreds of other people will live in the Iron Town. There are 5 cars for accommodation, one car with showers and a restaurant car, where meals are free for residents. Like WI-FI, electricity, water supply or recreation area, located near the cars, which are indoors and under 24-hour security. “Two compartments for one family, you can put in one thing. Air conditioners are working, there are dry toilets, refrigerators, microwave ovens, a dining car, ”said Oleksandr, the town’s commandant.
The compartments themselves, where people will rest, have not undergone any design changes. Even the bed, if you do not have your own, you can get a train, free.
More than a thousand houses in the city of Irpin were destroyed. Some of them were completely destroyed. Work is still underway to assess the damage and determine which homes can still be rebuilt and which should be built from scratch.
“The city administration is doing everything to bring the city to life. And our important function is to bring people, and we add new trains. But we understand that it is equally important that people have a place to return to. The idea arose to build a carriage town here, so that new, high-quality housing could be built here, ”said Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, head of Ukrzaliznytsia’s passenger service.
“Iron Town” is a joint project of Ukrzaliznytsia and the Irpin community. In addition to this place, those in need of temporary housing have already been resettled in hotels and local sanatoriums have been set up. More than a hundred architects have been invited to help restore the houses. Those who want to live here should leave applications on the railway website.
