Programs to restore or compensate for damaged or destroyed property are still under development, but residents of one of the high-rise buildings in the city of the heroes of Irpen did not sit and wait for help.
“There was furniture, there was a sofa, here was a computer, here was a TV, there was a kitchen, there was a refrigerator. Everything burned to the ground, ”Vitaliy shows the apartment of his sister, who managed to live here for less than a month before the Russians arrived.
In early March, this Irpin high-rise building was at the epicenter of hostilities. Kyiv Street was occupied by Russian soldiers. People were killed, looted and cynically shot at with tanks and mortars.
Before the start of active hostilities, the residents of this residential complex managed to leave. And when they returned, they were horrified at what they saw. Yuri has already managed to clean the apartment, but now it is difficult to call it an apartment. All that is left of her – only in the photos.
But the residents of the house did not mourn for long and immediately went to work. First, the area was cleared of debris, burned cars and broken glass. Then they started communications – changed sewer pipes, water supply and wiring. Smoky porches and corridors are scraped off with soot.
To save the house, residents have opened a special account, which collects money from around the world. First, they set about the metal to be handed over.
On the fourth floor, where there is almost a hole in the wall, lived a young family. And now a mother with two children in Mannheim, Germany. The woman is a specialist in lactation and baby food. I decided to continue working remotely and help save my home. While the children play, she records video recommendations. This video will then be included in your online consultation. Funds for her work go immediately to the account of condominiums. “Participants do not pay me, I do not check whether the participant paid. Who has the desire and ability to transfer 5-10 UAH and support our initiative – it’s great, “- she said.
The biggest problem with this house is the roof. It burned down along with the wooden floor. About 8 million hryvnias are needed for the restoration. The state program for such projects is still being developed.
