This became known from a message published by the first deputy director general of the National Reserve “Sophia of Kyiv” Vadym Kyrylenko on social networks. According to him, with the efforts of the master and with the funding of patrons, a cross was made for St. Sophia Cathedral and the architectural elements that survived were restored.

In the near future, the next stage of work will begin – equipment and gilding. It will be recalled that a fragment of a unique icon of the 11th century, made in a workshop at the court of the Byzantine emperor, was recently found on the territory of St. Sophia Cathedral. It is known that a fragment of gold jewelry was excavated in August 2021, it turned out to be an invoice of a large gold-metal icon, which was made in the XI century. The artifact was found in the strata of the XVIII century, where he got, most likely, from the early mounds. The found fragment will be credited to the reserve fund and may be presented in the exhibition.
