More than two months after the liberation of Kyiv from the Russian occupiers, horrific facts about war crimes committed by Russians on the approach to the Ukrainian capital continue to emerge. Immigrants from Donbass also became victims of the Russian military.
The invaders shot the family while trying to evacuate from Bucha. This is stated in the story “Public News” (to watch the video, scroll to the bottom of the page).
The Chikmarev family was forced to relocate after the Russian invasion of Donbas in 2014. The couple with small children chose Bucha near Kyiv as their new home.
However, eight years later, “Russian peace” came to their home again, but this time with extremely tragic consequences. The head of the family, Alexander Chikmarev, who survived, said that in the first days of the war, his family hid from the shelling.
On the day when Bucha came under the full control of Russian troops, the Chikmarev family decided to flee the city. It was during an attempt to evacuate that the Russians shot the car without warning. At the same time, witnesses say that the Russian military saw that there were civilians in the car, including children. But that did not stop the war criminals and they opened fire.
Alexander’s wife and two sons, Matthew and Klim, died on the spot . The man barely managed to save, he was left without a leg. The bodies of a woman and two children lay in the car for almost a month, as it was impossible to approach the car due to the constant shelling by the Russian occupiers.
