Famous American actor visited Ukraine
Hollywood star Ben Stiller met with Vladimir Zelensky in Kiev on Monday, calling him “his hero” for rallying worldwide support for Ukraine in the face of the Russian invasion.
“I am honored … You are my hero!” said Ben Stiller, the U.N. goodwill ambassador who met with the Ukrainian leader on World Refugee Day.
“What you’ve done, the way you’ve rallied the country, the world, it’s really inspiring,” the 56-year-old American comedian said, referring to Zelensky’s countless appearances around the world.
Footage of their meeting was published by Zelensky’s office.
Earlier Monday, Stiller visited Irpen, the site of fierce fighting at the start of the invasion in February 2022.
“I feel like it’s hard to understand what’s really going on here if you haven’t been here,” he told Zelensky.
“I was in Irpen this morning … and the real level of destruction, you see it on TV, you see it on social media, but it’s another thing to see it in reality, feel it, and then talk to people,” he said the American actor.
Speaking in English, Zelensky thanked Stiller for coming and said it was “very important” for him to constantly remind people of what’s happening in Ukraine.
“It’s very important to us that people don’t forget. It’s not interesting to talk about the war every day … but it’s very important to us,” the Ukrainian leader told him
