The results of the investigation by the international organization Amnesty International showed that in March, the Russian military knew about the hiding of hundreds of people in the Mariupol drama theater and deliberately struck them, committing a war crime.
In order to reach this conclusion, the organization interviewed surviving witnesses, studied numerous photos, and also conducted scientific calculations – a mathematical detonation model was created by a physicist, which made it possible to determine the power of the explosions of two 500-kilogram bombs dropped on the theater by the Russian occupiers.
